Laboratory equipment
The Laboratory offers:
- energy and emission tests of heating devices for a specific type of fuel with determination of thermal power, energy efficiency, concentrations in exhaust gases: CO2, CO, NOx, SO2, OGC, dust (organic pollutants, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons performed in the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry),
- safety tests of solid fuels boilers,
- sampling of solid fuels (hard coal, lignite, coke, biomass, solid recovered fuels) and furnace wastes,
- evaluation of solid fuels, including smokeless fuels for individual heating,
- measurements of concentrations of dust, CO2, CO, NOx, SO2 in exhaust gases,
Tests are performed in accordance with the applicable Polish and international standards and the Technical Procedures.

Laboratory equipment
The Laboratory carries out tests of:
- formed refractory materials (silica, aluminosilicate) in scope of:
- determination of physical and chemical properties, including: true and apparent density, open porosity and total porosity as well as water absorption,
- mechanical and thermomechanical properties, such as: compressive strength at ambient temperature, refractoriness under load.
- unformed refractory materials in scope of:
- determination of grain size distribution by sieve analysis.
- solid fuels in the scope of:
- petrographic analysis of hard coal and anthracite (vitrinite reflectivity and maceral composition – content of vitrinite, liptinite, inertinite and mineral matter),
- determination of the coke reactivity index (CRI) and coke strength after reaction (CSR) by the Nippon – Steel Corporation method.
- charcoal and charcoal briquettes, including the determination of the unacceptable contaminants content.
The tests are performed according to the applicable and valid Polish, European and international standards.
