The graduate (1986) of Chemistry Faculty of Silesian University of Technology (SUT) in Gliwice, specialty: chemical engineering. PhD thesis (chemical engineering) defended in 1993 at SUT. Since 1987 the employee of Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal. In 2004 -2013 the Vice Director for R&D of the Institute, and since 2013 the Director of the Institute. The author of several monographs, over 180 scientific papers and 20 patents. The scientific and research competences devoted to cokemaking, energy production and waste management. The activist for sustainable development of national economy and policy of energy production, environmental friendly wastes management and green energy generation. The member of many national and international organizations i.e. European Coke Committee (since 2001) - The Head of Environmental Working Group of the Committee (since 2013), the expert in Polish Chamber of Ecology in the field of wastes, the Head of Technical Working Group for coke industry, the member (and in 2010-2013 the Vice President) of Steering Committee of Polish Steel Technology Platform, the member (and since 2011 the President) of Technical Committee no 144 for coke and solid formed fuels of Polish Committee for Standardization, the member of Polish Association of Metallurgical Engineers and Technicians (SITPH), and since 2011 the Head of Carbochemistry Department of SITPH.

The Vice Director of The institute for Research and Development since 01.09.2013. Graduate (MSc - 1999 and PhD - 2004) of Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering of Silesian University of Technology (engines construction and exploitation). In 2013 graduated with habilitation (environmental engineering, specialty: clean coal technologies) by Central Mining Institute in Katowice. Participant of several international internship at universities (DTU, Denmark, 2001), research centres (TNO, Netherland, 2005) and industrial centres (Ahlstrom Pumps Co., Finland,1995; Energi E2, Denmark, 1997). Chairman of the Coordination Group of National Network of Accredited Laboratories "LABIOMEN", Member of Energy Commission of Polish Academy of Science and the representative of Poland in European Industrial Initiative in the field of CCS. Awarded in 2010 with the order of the Minister of Economy for "Service to Energetics". The employee of the Institute since 2004 (Vice Director of the Center to 2009 and Vice Director of Centre for Technological Research to 2013).

The graduate (1994) of Chemistry Faculty of Silesian University of Technology (SUT) in Gliwice, specialty: chemical engineering. PhD thesis (environmental engineering) defended in 2004 at the Faculty of Environmental and Power Engineering (SUT) and a postdoctoral degree in 2019 - also at the Faculty of Environmental and Power Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
The areas of his professional interests include, first of all, thermal methods of waste conversion, production and application of carbonaceous adsorbents and smokeless fuels, and process gas purification technologies. He is the author and co-author of over 130 scientific publications in national and international journals, monographs and chapters in monographs, over 150 expert opinions and scientific studies, and a co-author of several patents. He is a member of the National Smart Specialization team - KIS 4, Highly efficient, low-emission and integrated energy generation, storage, transmission and distribution systems, as well as a member of the Technical Committee 216 on Waste of the Polish Committee for Standardization. He devotes his free time to popular science and non-fiction literature.

From January 2020, Chef Accountant, Head of Planning and Finances Department of the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal. Employee of the Institute since 2012 (since 2015 as a Manager of the Planning, Controlling and Procurement Team, since 2018 as a Deputy Head of Planning Planning and Finances Department). A graduate of the University Of Economics in Katowice. Her area of interest are: financial reporting, accounting and all the fields related. In her professional work she strives to constant improving of her practical ad theoretical knowledge in the field of conducting accounting books, tax records, preparation of financial analysis.

She graduated in 2006 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Opole University of Technology, majoring in Environmental Engineering, with a specialization in Rational Energy Management, where in 2010 she defended her doctoral thesis, obtaining a doctoral degree in technical sciences in the discipline of Machine Construction and Operation. Since 2011 she has been employed at the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal, where she worked as Manager of the Fuel Preparation Team from 2015 to 2020. The main areas of competence of Dr. Karina Ignasiak include issues related to mechanical and thermal technologies of fuel and waste preparation for their energetic use, low-emission carbon fuels and hydrogen economy. She is interested in issues in the field of psychology of innovation, including motivation for creative work, change management and psychological aspects of economic transformation. In 2019, she graduated first-cycle studies from the at the University of Security in Poznań - specializing in Psychology in Business and Management. In 2021 she graduated from the University of Lower Silesia in Wroclaw with a major in Psychology, where her master's thesis dealt with issues related to the readiness for change of the mining sector staff in the perspective of the energy transformation of the economy. Since 2021 she has been the Head of the Department of Energy Transformation at the Institute.

Graduated (2001) of Chemistry Faculty of Silesian University of Technology (SUT) in Gliwice, specialty: physical measurements in chemical technology. PhD thesis (chemical technology) defended in 2014 at at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Directly after graduation, he was employed at the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal. Since 2019, he was the deputy director of the Center for Laboratory Research.
The main areas of competence include: assessment of the properties of raw materials for cokemaking processes, modeling of the cokemaking process, optimization of the composition of coal blends for the production of coke of the quality expected by the customer, as well as alternative additives to the coal charge.
He is the author and co-author of several scientific publications in national and international journals, several dozen expert opinions and scientific studies. He is a representative of the Institute in the Technical Committee No. 144 and 220 of the Polish Committee for Standardization. He is also a technical auditor of the Polish Center for Accreditation.
He actively participates in the work of the carbochemistry division of the Association of Steel Engineers and Technicians (SITPH), being its treasurer and deputy chairman of the SITPH Group at the Institute. For many years, he has been actively involved in the scouting activities as a scout instructor. Since 2021, he has been the Head of the Department of Cokemaking Technologies at the Institute. In his spare time, he focuses his interests on photography.

The graduate (2007) of Faculty of Chemical Technology, Silesian University of Technology (SUT) in Gliwice, specialty: chemical technology and environmental protection , and then in 2009, post-graduate studies at the Faculty of Fuels and Energy of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, speciality: modern management methods and technologies in cokemaking industry, and is currently pursuing a doctoral dissertation at the same faculty.
Since 2008 she worked as an engineer and since 2010 as an assistant in the Laboratory of Active Fuels and Coals of the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal. The main areas of competence include: testing the properties of solid fuels, secondary fuels and their thermochemical conversion products, tests of concentrations of substances harmful to the environment in the processes of thermochemical conversion of biomass, coal, coke and other carbon-based substances, as well as the determination and balancing of mercury in technological processes along with the issues of reducing mercury emissions to the atmosphere, as well as testing the physicochemical properties of furnace waste in order to detect illegal incineration and co-incineration of waste. He is a participant in numerous projects related, inter alia, to the removal of mercury from solid fuels before the combustion / gasification process, by means of low-temperature pyrolysis.
Since 2016, she was the deputy head of the Laboratory of Fuels and Activated Coals at the Institute. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Technical Committee KT 220 - Solid Natural Fuels of the Polish Committee for Standardization. Since 2021, he has been the Head of the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry at the Institute.
She actively practices squash and jogging.
