On October 6-7, at the Klimczok hotel in Szczyrk, the XXX Jubilee COKEMAKING Conference was held, under the honorary patronage of the Minister of State Assets, Mr. Jacek Sasin. The conference gave the participants an opportunity to familiarize themselves with important issues related to the present challenges faced by the cokemaking industry and cooperating industries. The special guest of the conference was the Minister, Undersecretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for the transformation of energy companies and coal mining, Mr. Piotr Pyzik.

As in the previous year, the conference was divided into three areas, namely:

  • Strategic problems of the cokemaking industry,
  • Present challenges facing the cokemaking industry,
  • Thematic panels entitled:
    • Coal and coke market
    • Bio-coke a chance for the Polish cokemaking industry?
    • Economic, social and environmental environment of the cokemaking industry

Due to the jubilee character of the conference, the program was enriched with an expert panel entitled Our roots. The participants of the panel were people who had a significant impact on the cokemaking industry in the last 30 years. The panel was chaired by prof. Marek Ściążko, previous managing director of the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal (currently the Institute of Fuel and Energy Processing Technology).

The conference was actively attended by over 150 representatives of all companies from the cokemaking producing industry in Poland, supporting the cokemaking industry, and guests from the Czech Republic.
