Coke plant of ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. in Zdzieszowice has completed a sophisticated renovation of the heads of several heating walls on one of the batteries operating there, according to the original method proposed by IChPW. The originality of this method was based on the reconstruction of their ceramics with partial use of amorphous silica. It was built in the place where the ceramics, left for further exploitation, joined with the new part rebuilt from traditional silica material. It allowed to avoid dissection on both the “old” and the “new” part of the lining, and thus guarantee full gas tightness of the renovated walls. Today, the chambers with renovated walls are fully operational, thus extending the life of the battery.

The works were carried out by specialists from the IChPW Coke Technology Department under the supervision of Mr Ludwik Kosyrczyk, the best expert in Poland in the field of coke oven repairs.
